SEC non-conference football schedule.
February 25, 2013
The folks at http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/ncaa-football-schedules.php have done a wonderful job of posting the known, future non-conference games of the 127
teams in div 1-a college football.
I expressed many times that I love sports
but I hate what sport has become. I am especially critical of the NCAA and more
specifically div 1-a college football.
All of the Big Six bcs automatic qualifying
football conferences (ACC, Big Twelve, Big East, Big Ten, Pac Twelve, SEC and Notre Dame) are guilty of the same hypocrisy
but let us look at the SEC’s future non-conference games. It certainly
is nothing of which to be proud.
Until the NCAA penalizes the bcs automatically
qualifying teams for playing non-bcs automatically qualifying non-conference teams
AND
Until the NCAA penalizes the bcs automatically
qualifying teams for playing more than six homes games, this type of corruption is going to occur in div 1-a college football.
Given that the unknown wise souls
of the NCAA supervising body gave NCAA president Mark Emmert a vote of confidence last week in spite of his bungled investigation
into the Miami-FL issue, the confidence outsiders have regarding the integrity of div 1-a college football is no more than
what one would have in winning big in any of the casinos in Las Vegas or throughout America.
At this point, www.fbschedules.com documented 203 future SEC non-conference games.
Of those 203 games:
- The SEC team is the visiting team in only 50 games. (24.6%)
- The location has not been determined for eight games. (3.9%)
- The SEC team is the home team for 145 games. (71.4%)
Of the 50 games where the SEC is the visiting
team:
- The SEC plays 14 games at ACC schools.
- The SEC plays 10 games at Big East schools.
- The SEC plays only 5 games at Big Ten schools.
- The SEC plays only 5 games at Big Twelve schools.
- The SEC plays 7 games at Conf USA schools
- The SEC plays 3 games at MAC schools.
- The SEC plays 1 game at a Mountain West school.
- The SEC plays 3 games at Pac Twelve schools.
- The SEC plays 2 games at Sun Belt schools.
Of the 145 games where the SEC Ten is the
home team:
- ACC teams visit 15 times.
- Big East teams visit 10 times.
- Big Ten teams visit 5 times.
- Big Twelve teams visit 7 times.
- Conference USA teams visit 27 times.
- Div 1-a independent teams visit 5 times. Idaho visits Auburn, Florida
and Mississippi. New Mexico State visits Florida and Mississippi.)
- Mid-America Conference teams visit 11 times.
- Mountain West teams visit 7 times.
- Pac Twelve teams visit 7 times. (USC visits four of those times.)

And
